Historical Mono Recording

A delicate and deeply felt collection of recordings, originally released to coincide with the publication of Billie's autobiography in 1956. In the years since the album title has been appropriated on a number of Billie Holiday collections, but the original album still stands up as Holiday's best late-era recording. Her voice was strong and producer Norman Granz put together expert, swinging backing bands.
